"Music is such a powerful tool for storytelling.
And with jazz--there's not a better way to share
common experiences about love, life, disappointment,
and the roller-coaster pursuit of dreams!"

--Wil Alston
Wil Alston is one of the latest voices to Denver’s jazz scene. Debuting in 2013 to a sellout performance at Lannie’s Clock Tower Cabaret in downtown Denver, Wil brings a velvet smooth baritone voice and delivers classic and contemporary jazz standards with grace and richness.

Many know Wil as a veteran entrepreneur, but may not know of his love for music and singing. A businessman by day and a jazzman by night!  He began singing as a child in Washington, D.C., and for the past two decades, has been a lead vocalist in the music department at one of Denver’s most prominent African American churches – the New Hope Baptist Church.

Prior to his debut solo performance at Lannie’s Clock Tower, Wil spent time as a back-up singer for prominent Denver vocalist Mary Louise Lee.  Today, Wil has assembled a veteran five-piece band made up of some of the area's most acclaimed musicians, and has established that he is as comfortable with only a piano or a trio backing him as he is with his full five-piece band.

Wil is looking to release his debut CD in 2017 titled, "Introducing Wil Alston,” featuring an original single titled, "When She Says My Name." The freshman record will showcase Wil's ability to interpret classic jazz tunes as well as his ability to contribute original and thoughtful new music to the jazz genre.

Wil says his musical influences include: Nat King Cole, Donny Hathaway, and Bill Withers; along with current day singers like Dianne Reeves, Gregory Porter, Kevin Whalum, Wil Downing, and Kurt Elling.
